Docetaxel is the only other member of the taxane family of cancer chemotherapeutic drugs besides paclitaxel. Initially approved for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), docetaxel is today used for a variety of cancer types like breast cancer, colorectal cancer and prostate cancer. Dexamethasone 8 mg tablets (see Decmax) should be given twice a day for 3 days starting 1 day before docetaxel to limit the frequency and severity of hypersensitivity reactions and to reduce the severity of fluid retention.
