PEGLIDOX

Description

Doxorubicin is a cytotoxic anthracycline antibiotic isolated from cultures of Streptomyces peucetius var. caesius. Doxorubicin binds to nucleic acids, presumably by specific intercalation of the planar anthracycline nucleus with the DNA double helix.

 

Drug type: Doxorubicin (liposomal) is an anti-cancer ("antineoplastic" or "cytotoxic") chemotherapy drug.  It is the drug doxorubicin encapsulated in a closed lipid sphere (liposome).  This medication is classified as an "anthracycline antibiotic."
